Mujaddedi leaves for Kabul

From Liaqat Adeel PESHAWAR, April 27: Prof Sibghatullah Mujaddedi, leader of the Afghan Transitional Council, along with 18 Commission members left Peshawar for Kabul early Monday morning. The Afghan Mujahideen leaders crossed the Pak-Afghan border at Torkham at 10.30 a.m.. The group of Mujahideen leaders was scheduled to fly to Kabul on Sunday afternoon. But due to reasons still not known, the C-130 aircraft of Pakistan Air Force could not fly till late in the evening. Later the PAF sources had said that the flight had been cancelled due to operational reasons. However, political observers believe that the flight could not take off because it was difficult to ensure its safety. Earlier it was reported that Gulbuddin Hekmatya'r had threatened to shoot down the plane. The fact that the MujafeMfpen leaders had to opt for road journey has made it clear that the main reason for the cancellation of the flight was lack of security. The 18-member Mujahideen group was accompanied by 72 guards, four each for every commission member, and 160 partymen of Prof Mujaddedi and Commander Ahmad Shah Masood.
