Essay 6: dissolution of power Decentralization of power has been an important concept in management sciences.

It is usually employed in the big organizations and corporations as it is neither feasible nor appreciable to centralize or concentrate the powers in an organization with huge organizational structure. Decentralization aims at shifting the authority making, decision making responsibility and accountability to as lower organizational levels as it is possible and suitable. Decentralization in an organization may lead to the creation of new managerial posts/ roles. If decentralization takes place and a person is asked to join the role of newly created managerial post, he should consider the scaling of his division first. He may be asked to define the newer responsibilities of his unit or division himself. He must then assign the responsibilities to his sub-ordinates. He should new processes for personnel management as well. In case of inter-department shuffling or scaling, he should consider assigning new roles and responsibilities to those who are new to his department. He should be bothered about the transfer of records i.e. annual performance files and bio data etc. of those employees who have been transferred from or to his department. Hed be responsible for dealing with those staff members who cant accept the transfer to some other department for some reason. He should also devise a strategy by which he can convince or deal with those employees who refuse to take up new roles or responsibilities.
