Cooperate Social Responsibility Currently Nagina Textile is not showing any cooperate social responsibility.

A strategic approach to CSR is increasingly important to a company's competitiveness. It can bring benefits in terms of risk management, cost savings, access to capital, customer relationships, human resource management, and innovation capacity. It also encourages more social and environmental responsibility from the corporate sector at a time when the crisis has damaged consumer confidence and the levels of trust in business. Currently Nagina Textile is dumping its waste mainly toxic chemicals in nearby areas which are causing serious harm to environment and are also harming the underground water of nearby areas. (Appendix 8) Every year they pay some amount to the owner of that land, which is not more than the harm they are making to the environment. This kind of activity is illegal but due to poor law enforcement agencies and corruption no action is being taken in developing countries like Pakistan. The company is saving millions of rupees by not recycling or treating their waste and directly dumping it into these fields, without caring about people. This kind of activity can save a lot of money in short term but can have serious consequences in long term. This may have a negative image of company and may ruin its relations with its clients. As most of the clients are foreigners so company may lose a large chunk of their exports because this is a serious crime in developed countries. Company should show some cooperate social responsibility, doing so will not only improve companys image but also help to increase its marketing share by having new client due to positive word of mouth. They should have proper treatment plant for these toxic chemicals and they should be properly treated before releasing them. They should also find some new ways to recycle this waste, doing this will not only do good to society but it will also reduce their society.
