    Formal and informal greetings are outlined for arriving, during a conversation, and departing. For arriving formally one may say "Good morning/afternoon/evening" followed by "Hello (name), how are you?" or "Good day Sir/Madam." Informally it is common to say "Hi/Hello" or ask "How are you?" or "What's up?". When departing formally one may say "Good morning/afternoon/evening, it was a pleasure seeing you, goodbye" while informally "Goodbye/bye, see you (later)" is used.

    Good day Sir / Madam (very formal)


    "How do you do?" is quite formal for British English speakers and the reply to this question is to repeat the phrase, "How do you do?" (as strange as that may sound!)

    Informal Greetings: Arriving Hi / Hello How are you? What's u ? (very informal) How are you doing? (very informal)
