Functions for Business Operations at McLarens

McLaren Marketing Function McLaren Marketing was established to support McLarens partners in Formula 1 enabling them to maximize their return on investment and add value to their association. McLaren is constantly organizing marketing activities, whether it involves personal appearances by drivers, exhibitions, photography, and media coverage or filming. They also carry out a vast amount of market research. McLaren Marketing has some of the longest sponsorship relationships in sporting

history including 28 years with HUGO BOSS and long relationships with Vodafone, ExxonMobil, DIAGEO, SAP and Santander. Services they provide include Partner management, VIP hospitality, event support, and business development and media relations.

Product/Service development function McLarens Product/services development function is responsible for new products and service ideas. PSDF is also responsible for understanding of the capabilities and constraints of the operations process. Another name for this function is Research and Development.

Integration of functions. At McLarens the two aforementioned functions have an interrelationship/ integration process between them. McLaren Applied Technologies (MAT) was formed in 2004 to identify and manage projects that develop technology and expertise within the McLaren Group and apply them to more than just the core business of motor sport and automotive.

The MTC allows the whole car launch team - design, development, engineering, purchasing, testing, production, marketing, sales and aftersales - to be fully integrated within a few metres of each other.
