The Avery Crossings Respite and Rehabilitation Program may be a solution for patients being discharged from the hospital after being under observation. Often patients do not feel ready to return directly home but are concerned about the cost of short-term rehabilitation in a skilled nursing center. The Respite Program provides short-term, 24hour care, under the supervision of a nurse in a residential community. Personal care, medication management, meals and housekeeping are some of the services. Patients can also receive nursing, physical, occupational and speech therapy through their Medicare home healthcare benefit. The all-inclusive cost is $220 per day.
