Teaching- Math-Review one and two digit multiplication and division facts using playing cards and 100 numbers chart. Reading- Preview the passage Where On Earth Are You by discussing latitude and longitude. Opportunity for practice- Math- R. will play Multiplication War in which he will have to recall his multiplication facts to win the game. The first round will again be a practice round. Assessment- Math- R. will complete a Multiplication/Division worksheet. Reading- R. will read the passage Cold-Blooded Reptiles 3 times for accuracy. I will chart his accuracy on a fluency chart. Then, he will read the passage Where On Earth Are You and write the answer to the comprehensive questions. Closure- Math- We will review multiplication and division facts using the 100 numbers chart. Reading- We will continue to use the map to find other places using longitude and latitude and discuss other methods used to locate places.

Resources: Playing cards Sheet identifying the value of the following playing cards: Ace, King, Queen, and Jack 100 numbers chart 2-digit Multiplication/Division Worksheet Fluency Chart Cold-Blooded Reptiles passage Where On Earth Are You reading passage Comprehensive questions Plans for Individual Learners and Differentiation Strategies: R. and I will work at a desk in the back of the classroom to avoid distractions. R. will be able to use the 100 numbers chart to help answer questions on the 2 digit multiplication/division worksheet. R. will be able to silently read both passages before being evaluated on his fluency and answering the questions. Reflection: Math- Today will be the last day I use worksheets as a form of evaluation because R. does not respond well to them. He is easily distracted and does not like doing the worksheets. He enjoyed the game we played but it was very difficult to motivate him to do anything today. Reading- R. enjoyed the passages that we read today and even told him different facts that he knew about cold-blooded reptiles and different things about the Earth. I will continue to use nonfiction reading materials with R.
