Big Zoo Animal Research Report

You will be expected to complete a research report about the animal you observed at the zoo. This report will be written as an informational book. Use this checklist to make sure you have all parts complete.
1. Research I have 5 THICK questions. My research is complete and accurate. I used information from the zoo & Internet sources. 2. Four Chapters of Your Choice (habitat, diet, appearance, adaptations, babies, interesting facts, etc.) Each chapter has at least 5 sentences. I taught readers information. I elaborated by putting in ideas, observations, and questions. 3. Introduction/Lead I wrote a beginning in which I got readers ready to learn a lot of information about the subject. 4. Ending I wrote an ending that drew conclusions, asked questions, or suggested ways readers might respond. 5. Organization I grouped my information into parts. I used at least two organization structures: boxes and bullets, pros and cons, compare and contrast, or cause and effect. My table of contents is complete, neat, and accurate. 6. Includes at least one sketch (animal, enclosure, etc.) Has Labels

Has Color 7. Expert Vocabulary I chose expert words (adaptation, habitat, predator, prey, omnivore, carnivore, herbivore, camouflage, etc.) to teach readers a lot about the subject. I made these words bold or highlighted in my report and explained their meaning. 8. Non-Fiction Text Features I have included at least 1 non-fiction text feature: diagrams, definition boxes, maps, timelines, glossaries, or charts. My facts in these features are accurate. 9. Spelling and Punctuation I have correct spelling and punctuation.
