PERSONAL CODE OF ETHICS

MY STUDENTS As an educator, it is my duty to model and teach those characteristics of being a good citizen in every situation. I accept the responsibility of helping each student reach their full potential both academically and socially. In order to be effective with my students, I will Act fairly and justly towards all students. Be positive and motivating in every learning experience. Do my best to protect students from hurt and/or harm. Keep records confidential unless otherwise required by law. Follow law and school policy in the area of discipline. Be respectful of the culture and diversity that each student represents. Create a learning environment that promotes the success of every student. Maintain professional and appropriate student to teacher relationships.

MY PROFESSION As an educator, it is my duty to fully commit to my profession. I accept responsibility to being capable and knowledgeable about effective teaching strategies and classroom management. In order to stay committed to my profession, I will Continue professional growth and development. Adhere to contract terms and assignments. Not intentionally falsify information on applications for professional positions. Not accept any gift that appears to influence a professional decision. Not steal or misappropriate school monies for any reason.

MY COLLEAGUES As an effective educator, it is my responsibility to be a team player in support of the overall potential of the school climate and environment. I accept responsibility in maintaining positive working relationships with my colleagues. In order to maintain a good rapport with my colleagues, I will Treat colleagues with respect at all times. Not interfere with a colleagues freedom of choice on any matter. Not make false or malicious statements about my colleagues. Not discriminate against colleagues regardless of race, religion, political affiliations, age, gender, disability, family status or sexual orientation.

PARENTS & COMMUNITY It takes a village to raise a child. I understand this concept and accept responsibility in doing my best to incorporate parents and the community in supporting the vision towards the schools academic success. I will Maintain an active role and relationship in the community. Make every effort to maintain open and positive communication with parents. Be open, understanding and respectful of the culture and diversity of the community. Not retaliate against a parent or community member who has filed a complaint against the institution.
