Welcome to Libby Boumas E-Portfolio!

My portfolio is organized so that you may become acclimated to my teaching style, pedagogical flexibility, background in varying instructional strategies, my ability to differentiate, and my background in working with diverse learners. I would like to share a quick note with you about myself before you view my E-Portfolio, so that you may have a frame of references as you view my work. I am a Master of Science in Teaching student at Drake University with K-8 endorsements in Reading and Special Education Strategist I. My undergraduate degrees are in Criminology and Sociology from UNI in 2003. After graduating, I began working in the social work field. After three years of working one-on-one with children struggling with behavioral and mental health issues, I worked with families involved with the Child Welfare systems of both Colorado and Iowa. My experience in social work has given me a deep understanding of and appreciation for childrentheir vulnerability and potential alike. I have witnessed many ways children can be both negatively and positively influenced, and these experiences motivated me to return to school and pursue a Masters degree in teaching. I want to be a positive influence and role model for children in their learning environment. For some children, school is their refugetheir source of development, learning, and growth. It is my goal to be a teacher who provides children with a school life that builds foundations for them to successfully advance in their education and lives. I believe that I am called to be a teacher, and so I am committed to learning how to effectively teach children to learn, grow, and thrive. Accomplishing these things, I believe, will make a lasting impact on their lives. I was fortunate to participate in two amazing student teaching experiences, and through those experiences, as well as my schooling, my passion for Education has strengthened me in to becoming the best teacher that I can be. I hope my work shows the passion and dedication I have to working with all students, so please enjoy!
