Purpose Question: what observable differences exist between a human cheek cell, a elodea leaf and a protist?

Hypothesis: I believe that the cheek cells will be yellow or orange because of the iodine but they are originally clear, they might be like little circles, and they are probably not alive so they will not be moving. I believe that the elodea leaf will be a greenish wall called a cell wall. I think I will see little moving protists, that are probably clear oval shaped, fast moving cells, in the pond water. Thats my hypothesis. Materials: two twee ers a eye dropper a couple of flat tooth picks. one depression slide a few standard slides cover slips a drop of methyl cellulose iodine hay infusion cup of water sample of human cheek cells a microscope

Method: "heek "ells #tep $ne% &lace three drops of water on a standard slide with a eye dropper #tep Two% Take a tooth pick and rub it gently against the side of your cheek #tep Three% 'ently put the tooth pick in the water, swirl it around a bit and take it out. #tep (our% &ut a drop of iodine in the water. #tep (ive% 'ently place a cover slip over the water. #tep #ix% &lace it under the stage clips on the microscope and get it into focus. )ou should see cheek cells that are a yellowish color over the place. *+aturally clear but because of the iodine it makes it shows up in a yellowish orange color so you can see it., &rotists #tep $ne% Take a standard slide #tep Two% &ut three drops of pond water on it.
