We Built a Zoo!

Over the next three weeks, you are going to be learning a lot about the regions of Africa, Asia, South America, and Australia as well as the animals that inhabit those areas. You will also be learning about the zoos! Zoos are one of the places you can go to see many of the animals from all of these different regions in one place. This unit, you are learning about measurement! You will be gaining the skills needed to create a blueprint for the zoo you are building, so thats what were going to do! If you dont know what a blueprint is, it is a design plan or model. In other words, you will be working in groups to design the cages and other enclosures for twelve species of animals for the zoo you are building. Here are the supplies you will have: One sheet of large graph paper (small for rough drafts) Rulers Protractors Pencils Markers Computers (some days) Books YOUR BRAINS =)

You MUST choose three animal species from each of the following lists: AFRICA Lion Elephant Giraffe Cheetah Zebra Asia Caracal Komodo Dragon Bengal Tiger Giant Panda Orangutan South America Chilean Flamingo Green Anaconda Jaguar Scarlet Macaw Alpaca Australia Dingo Kangaroo Wallaby Platypus Emu

Please circle the three that you choose in each group, write your name on the top of this paper, and turn it back in to me when youre finished. *Remember* you must make one animal cage for each species, but you can put as many animals from that species in the cage as you want the cage size just has to be accurate! & MOST IMPORANT HAVE
