Dobbys Direct Objects Rules: A direct object functions in a sentence as something receiving the action of a verb.

Direct objects answer the questions whom or what, as in the subject did (verb) what? Examples: Dobby opened the book. Harry found Dobby in his room. Dobby dropped a cake on the Dursleys company. Exercise: Identify and underline the direct objects in the following paragraph. Remember that the object of a prepositional phrase is just that and is not a direct object.
