Pizza Counting Standards: -4.1.1: Demonstrate emergent understanding of numbers -4.1.

2: Recognize and name some one-digit written numerals -4.1.3: Compare groups of objects Objectives: -SWBAT count the amount of each circles, triangles, and squares they put on their pizza. -SWBAT tell what shape they have the most of. Procedures: The lesson will begin on the carpet with the read of a story that relates with a pizza. We will then break up into center time. This lesson will continue at one of the centers. Each student will be given a plain tan circle to represent their pizza. They will then glue on as many pepperonis (red circles), mushrooms (gray triangles), and peppers (green squares) on to their pizza as they would like. Once their pizza is complete, I will help them complete a worksheet about their pizza. They will first count all of the red circles and write that number in the designated spot on the worksheet. We will do this for each shape. Then the student will have to find which shape they have the most of for the bottom question on the worksheet. I will have them glue that shape into the blank spot on the worksheet. This last question will only be on the worksheet for the four year old class, not the three year olds in the morning. It might be a little hard for some of the four year old students, so I will be readily available to help them figure out the answer through questioning. Assessment: I will be able to check for understanding by watching the students complete the worksheet.
