Activity showcase back for second year

Malmesbury is getting a new home for community groups. The "Malmesbury Hub" comes from a partnership between the town council and Greensquare. The hub will have its official opening on the 28th March though it!s already being used for the monthly indoor mar"et.

1e!re running a showcase of the sports and activities in our area and as"ing clubs to put on free taster sessions. #n the 2$th %ebruary the space was transformed by a team from Greensquare who did a "&'( )#)" style ma"eover to upgrade the facilities and turn a storeroom into an office.

The hub will be available for hire by the community and will have advice about local groups and volunteering. Greensquare will use it to bring services closer to their residents. The hub will be in the "#ld )chool *oom" at the rear of the town hall ne+t to the ,ohn -owen Gallery.

1e are now a registered charity. The 8harity 8ommission contacted us at the end of ,anuary to let us "now that our application to be a 8haritable 'ncorporated #rganisation had been approved. This gives us a far better organisational structure but our day<to<day wor" will continue much as before. #ur registered charity number is 99$$$42.

The website brings together useful information in one place while the %aceboo" group is somewhere for the community to meet and share information. 1e set up the sites in late 2:92 and they!ve proved Aunfortunately2B very popular. Hopefully we!ll get some better weather soon and they!ll quieten down.

't!s 9:: years since the start of 119 later this year. 7t a national level there will be a lot about the big stories of the conflict but our communities have their own tales to tell. 1e set up the Great War Project last year to support and promote local efforts to mar" the anniversary. 1e can help with general publicity funding applications and building lin"s with others that are ta"ing part. 1e are also running our own living memorial pro6ect with a thousand free pac"ets of poppy seeds being given out in our area.
