DO ALL LIQUIDS EVAPORATE AT THE SAME RATE?

Hypothesis
Our hypothesis is that the gatorade will evaporate first and turn into gas. We think the gatorade will evaporate first because we learned about the water cycle. We learned that when there is accumulated water the suns heat warms the water and starts to evaporate and turns into a gas.

Survey

Materials
Water, gatorade, alcohol, nail polish remover, 4 petri dishes, beaker

Procedure
1. Pour the same amount of the four different liquids into each petri dish. Pour 30 ml of water, gatorade, alcohol, and nail polish remover. 2. Set the petri dishes in a dry location. 3. Set location at room temperature. 4. Monitor the levels of all 4 liquids daily.

Results
Day 1, after we poured the liquids, the alcohol petri dish was empty. Day 2 the water petri dish was empty. Day 3 the nail polish remover was empty. Day 5 the gatorade petri dish was empty.

Petri Dishes

Data Discussion
We learned that the liquids evaporated at different rates. We learned alcohol evaporated first. It took a day to turn into gas. We learned gatorade took the longest to turn into gas. We learned that all liquids turned into gas.

Data

Conclusion
We concluded that liquids evaporate at different rates. The substances that each liquid contained slowed or increased the process of evaporation.
