Religion: Our Promise Crosses are beginning to look very colorful. This week, we started learning the story of the Stations of the Cross. We are reading and illustrating our own Station booklet. Reading: We reviewed writing sentences correctly. We are practicing putting events in story order using clue words such as first, next, and last. We reviewed compound words and contractions. Math: We will continue to practice telling time to the hour and half hour during the day at school. We reviewed addition strategies of counting on and using the number line. We practiced adding 3 numbers. Science: We reviewed force and motion. On Wednesday students from Loyola Academy helped us enjoy science centers about magnets. We used bar magnets to show attract and repel. We made predictions about which things would be attracted to a magnet and which would not. It was fun to test out our predictions. We used a Skitt kit to test magnet strength through things such as foil, plastic, cardboard, and water. We had lots of fun playing with different types of magnets too. Social Studies: We are talking about needs and wants, goods and services. We sorted pictures of different types of transportation from the past to the present. We practiced reading a map using the map key and direction words: north, south, east and west.
