If you are interested in getting an INSIDERS VIEW of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections (DOC) and how it operates, without being convicted, then you might be interested in Leadership Academy. Leadership Academy is the first and only program of its kind designed for corrections that is open to the public and allows participants access to a behind the walls look at prisons and corrections first hand. The Leadership Academy is a 6-week session of classes implemented to enhance the understanding of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, its operations and its impact on the community.

Open to all business, community, educational, and faith-based leaders.

What are the requirements?


Minimum age of 18 years Oklahoma resident Candidates are encouraged to attend all classes
There is no cost to participate. Classes are scheduled on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. All classes begin at the Oklahoma Department of Corrections Administration Building located at 3400 Martin Luther King Ave. Oklahoma City. Tours may include the following locations: Oklahoma State Penitentiary, the states only and oldest maximum security prison for men.

Mabel Bassett Correctional Center, an all female medium security prison and reception center. Lexington Assessment and Reception Center, an all male medium security prison and all male reception center. Joseph Harp Correctional Center, an all male medium security prison, Oklahoma Correctional Industries (furniture factory), Geriatric Offender unit and the states largest Mental Health unit.
