VOCABULARY
Neural arch ( arco neural): the cartilaginous or bony arch enclosing the spinal cord on the dorsal side of a vertebra. Pedicles ( pediculos): one of the paired parts of the vertebral arch that connect a lamina to the vertebral body. Coating: (revestimiento): A layer of any substance spread over a surface. Vessels (vasos): A tube or duct, as an artery or vein, containing or conveying blood or some other body fluid. Odontoid process ( preceso odontoides): A small, toothlike, upward projection from the second vertebra of the neck around which the first vertebra rotates. Costal facets (facetas costales): One of three sites on each side of a typical thoracic vertebra for articulation with ribs. Wedge-shaped (forma de cua): Broad and truncate at the summit, and tapering down to the base. Lamellae (laminillas): A thin flat scale, membrane, or layer. Laminae (lamina): Overlay (a flat surface) with a layer or some other protective material. Promontory (promontorio): a prominent or protuberant part, part high.
