Content Objective: Identify and draw lines of symmetry. Materials: Symmetry worksheet from Superteacher.com Pencil Ruler Clipboard Lesson: 1. Review the meaning of the words identify, horizontal, vertical, and diagonal. Have individuals use their arms, bodies, or other motions to model a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line. Have other learners identify which line it is. Post the sentence frame I can identify that this line is _______. 2. Pass out the worksheet. Complete the rst section together. When beginning the second section, rst model how to use a ruler to draw lines of symmetry accurately. Students nish that section independently. 3. As a brief assessment, observe students working independently on the third section. As they demonstrate prociency, instruct them to choose another appropriate worksheet to continue practicing identifying and drawing lines of symmetry before working on a project. For those who do not demonstrate prociency, instruct them to choose another appropriate worksheet, but continue practicing with the teacher in a group on the carpet.
