SCIENCE WEEK
Our mornings will still be Literacy-centered. We will focus on non-fiction texts using insects and butterflies as the main topics. The students will learn to use a K-W-L chart, and will work in their insect notebooks. Ask your child about our classroom caterpillars they are really growing! Several of the afternoons will be science-centered, and students will rotate among the four First Grade classrooms. I will be presenting the Water Cycle. Students will learn new vocabulary, will learn a water cycle song, and will make a water cycle bracelet in order to remember the different stages in order. The other teachers will lead lessons in the scientific method, working with the five senses, and experimenting with magnets.
