March 27, 2014 To Whom It May Concern: It is my pleasure to write this recommendation on behalf of Tristan Glade.

I have had the privilege of being one of Tristans cohort supervisors from the Urban Institute for Teacher Education at the University of Utah. From the beginning Tristan has shown that she recognizes the importance of differentiation, provides opportunities for hands-on learning and has the tools necessary to manage a classroom. She truly would be an asset to any faculty and staff. Differentiation: Tristan recognizes the importance of not just meeting the needs of a few learners, but of all learners. Not only does Tristan build in differentiation into her lessons, but she also worked collaboratively with her site teacher and the other sixth grade team to create differentiated language arts groups. Lesson planning: Tristan works hard to plan hands-on and engaging lessons. She goes out of her way to find quality resources and materials to supplement her lessons. In addition, she has also incorporated the Emints principles into her lessons. Tristan recognizes the need to keep students involved in her lessons in order to keep engagement high, and does so by having students participate in experiments, use technology throughout lessons and have collaborative discussions with their peers. Classroom management: Classroom management is an essential ingredient to a successful classroom. Tristan has a wide array of classroom management techniques that positively influence her students to be the best that they can be. Tristan uses techniques such as classroom points and student-friendly signals to show readiness. Most importantly, Tristans classroom management system focuses on positively recognizing students for good behavior, instead of negatively recognizing those that are not meeting behavior expectations. It is without reservation that I recommend Tristan Glade. Please let me know if I can answer further questions. Sincerely,

Jennifer Willie Teacher Candidate Supervisor University of Utah 801-792-5361
