Campus/District: Date: 2-20-14 Commerce Middle School Overall Goal of Lesson: Students will be able to use loco-motor skills such as running and jogging, and also be able to perform exercises for muscle strength and endurance. Instructional Objectives: Students will perform a 7.5min. Endurance run and demonstrates their strength by performing 15 push-ups, and 15 sit-ups. Anticipatory Activity for Lesson: Students will come in and sit in assigned spots until I release them to change for the daily activity.

Students will enter the gym and report to their assigned spots. Once all are seated I will release them to go get dressed into their athletic attire, and return to start their daily stretches. Students will perform a 7.5 min. endurance run in order to prepare for the state fitness gram testing. After the running is complete I will allow a cool down walk around, and then allow students to get a drink of water. Once the students get their water they will report to mid court and lay down to begin 3 sets of 5 push-up, and 3 sets of 5 sit-ups. Once the strengthening is done students will stretch. Students will report to the center of the gym to ask any questions and receive instruction to go get dressed back into regular school clothing, then report back to their assigned spots and wait for me to release them after the bell has rung.

Closure: 5min.

Total Lesson Time: 40min.

Modeling: I will demonstrate the correct way to perform push-ups and sit-ups. Also demonstrate the correct breathing techniques while running. Guided Practice: Instructing and demonstrating students on what to do and how to use the skills appropriately during skilled the skilled activities.

Independent Practice: Students will demonstrate their knowledge and skills by finishing the 7.5min run without walking and using the correct form and technique while performing push-ups and sit-ups. Lesson Closure: Students review what loco-motor skills were used and what muscles were used during the activities. Once students have reviewed they will go get dressed in the locker room and report to their assigned spots waiting for dismissal. Assessment Methods/Strategies: Students will be able to ask questions and recite the correct answers when asked higher ordered questions about the daily activity.
