Philosophy of Education Thinking deeply of my attitude towards education, I feel that being a teacher can and will impact every student in some kind of positive way. Teaching involves being dedicated, caring, and self-motivated in order to make it a mandatory goal to help every student reach maximum success. Having an interest of being a physical education teacher and coach one day, I feel that students in my field will need guidance and positive role modeling to ensure they learn their basic and fine loco motor skills. Research shows that students learn best visually and from hands- on experience and I have a passion for giving students the opportunity not only to learn from instruction, but also by allowing them to practice and asses these skills. I am aware that when teaching there will be many obstacles. I vow to never give up and seek immediate solutions that will deplete all problems that may hold me back from reaching set goals of me and the students I am teaching. I will think student first, and avoid any existentialism philosophy that allows the students to believe in making their own decision making and believing what they say and do is the correct and only way. I understand that students will have a mind of their own at certain times but I want to be the teacher who guides them to the correct path of decision making and thought processing. Observing high school level physical education teachers I saw teachers faced with students issues, such as not wanting to dress out in proper athletic attire because they made it their decision that thats not what they wanted to do, also not participating in daily activities or sports because they felt they didnt have to even though it was a class participation grade. Observing these types of problems I now know that rules and consequences have to be stated clearly then understood by the students in order to avoid any confusion when enforcing consequences of going against the rules because they felt their decision making was the best to follow.

Teaching also comes with infinite positives from my perspective. I enjoy being around children, giving positive feedback, correcting them when they are wrong and acknowledging them when they are right. Students know when a teacher cares and when a teacher doesnt care. Going throughout school I had teachers who went through the motions and rushed through things in order to make it through the day and say they finished what was on the lesson plan. I memorized those horrific acts, feelings of not being important and helpless thoughts. I now know and appreciate those memories because they taught me exactly what not to do and how not to teach, or make an individual feel ever. I also had teachers and coaches who gave warm welcomings, extra help during and after school, attended school events and sports their students were involved in, and even gave positive advice when dealing with problems from the outside world. I cherished these moments and the people who helped create them, I remember them as being the perfect model. To me being a model to the students in my field will require showing them the correct techniques and basics, answering any questions they have enthusiastically, and never ending a day with a student feeling lost or behind. Creating a positive, teacher-student relationship will result in the students being able to assess what they are learning to be able to actually perform what they have learned successfully. With being a teacher, in any subject, it is a must that discipline is practiced and enforced in the classroom. Incorporating behaviorism within the classroom will change what people say and do which is a good thing because this ensure class room management and displays behavior that is accepted and not accepted. Class room management is very imperative in a sense that as a teacher you are the supreme ruler of your classroom and must have that extinguished between the students and yourself. Having this understanding will display to the students that your class abides by your rules and if your rules are broken, then there are consequences to deal with

because it is an antagonist to a smoothly ran class room. As a teacher, I would have rules that I have went over several times and then have students sign a contract saying they understand and agree to abide by them or disciplinary actions will take place. In physical education, there arent many rules to implement to the students, but some are, you must attend class, dress out, and participate in the activities played and learned. Every time a student breaks a rule it would be documented and brought to their attention so they know exactly why when grades go out they have lost points. Education is changing and evolving every day, and I am aware that in order to be successful at this job I will have to be flexible, creative, and interesting in order to keep the attention of my students. I want to have the biggest impact and ensure them that each individual is important to school as well as society. Also I promise to give my all and undivided attention to every student so they can and will reach every goal set, no matter the obstacles they meet we will overcome them together and they can be whatever they want to be as long as they work hard and never give up when aiming for maximum success.
