a Fly Rod of Two Worlds

The project completed the "Rod of Two Worlds" assured. Comes now a truly revolutionary development in graphite fly rods! For about 10 years I have been thinking and contemplating making a segmented graphite fly rod on the exact same principle that we make our famous semi-hollow constructed bamboo rod. I know that this method will make a stronger, tougher and smoother action rod. a graphite rod with a bamboo action. I knew I could make any taper progressive, degressive or uniform, with true unity and continuity of action with this system of construction. I dragged my feet I procrastinated. Two other men in another country had the same thoughts but they did not drag their feet they did something about it. They beat me to the punch! Jim Bruce, a second generation bamboo fly rod maker, and Ken Walker, a modern day engineer, put their heads together and developed the technique to do exactly what I was dreaming about doing. They produced the Hexagraph segmented graphite fly rod in their plant near Ramsey, England. Their construction was excellent. I met these two gentlemen in Boston a year ago. I liked them and I liked the way their product was made, but I didn't particularly like the design of their fly rods they were made for the European market, not ours. They wanted a piece of the American market, so I suggested that we pool our expertise and produce the perfect graphite fly rod the best of two worlds. They agreed to give it a try. 1 went to their plant in England and together ve worked out actions and components and developed /hat I consider the finest graphite fly rods on the market today - The "Walton Powell Hexagraph Segmented Graphite Fly Rod". We are partners in the venture and have 11 models of fly rods at the present time. They range from 7' to 10' in various actions and line weights. These rods are not going to make you a better caster you can achieve that by taking a lesson or two from me, or if in the East, from Joan Wulff. They will not necessarily cast farther nor more accurately than other rods, that will depend on the person doing the casting, but when you fit one with the proper line, you will have a combination that will give you a smooth pleasant feeling cast a joy to use and they are tough! You will not be plagued with breakage so you can pass your rod down to your children. Our production at present is limited, but we are going to build a new plant here in the United States at Quincy, California. Although it costs 6 to 10 times more to make a segmented blank than a tubular blank, we are going to keep the price of our rods in the same bracket as the high priced tubular rods. The price of our 1 tip rod with cloth sack and aluminum case is $395.00. Our 2 tip rod is $495.00. To get the ball rolling and to get these rods in the hands of fishermen, we are giving a $50.00 discount off these prices until December 31. 1990. For further information write or call me.
