The Roca London Gallery is a place inspired by water and designed to become a centre of reference for social, cultural and exhibition activities, in addition to showcasing the brands latest products and collections. Its design is an expression of the fluid relationship between Roca and Zaha Hadid Architects, and the passion for innovation they both share. A unique space in which to discover everything from product design to the importance of water in our society. The new Roca London Gallery joins those the company already possesses in Barcelona, Madrid and Lisbon, which it has created in partnership with leading architects and designers.

Zaha Hadid Architects brings to the Roca London Gallery experience Rocas solid history and culture of innovation. More than merely creating a place in which to display products, Zaha Hadid has developed a flexible space where the display areas, meeting rooms, caf-bar, library, multimedia walls, reception and interactive touch screens are arranged so that visitors feel that they are inside an active design space. The concept of the Roca London Gallery, opened in October 2011, finds its inspiration in the waters different phases and states. Here, water acts both as an idea for creating the space and for expressing Rocas openness and ability to adapt to change and innovation. Water is also the protagonist of the architecture and connects all the parts of the Gallery. Its movement is the idea that has given shape to the display spaces and the remaining areas.
The new Roca London Gallery stands on a single storey of more than one thousand square metres. The unique faade gives the space a personality all its own. It features a consistent fusion of forms and contours that are used in a unexpected manner to create an architectural series of cuttings and openings in space, and which opens up the interior to the public square in front of the Gallery. Inside, the routing of the main gallery is inspired by the idea of illuminated water droplets that connect the different areas in a consistent way. The choice of backlit pods creates a backbone that ends up in spiral shape, leading to the bookstore and the multimedia lounge area next to the reception. The innovative spatial concepts of the display areas, finished in dark grey cement, contrast with the white of the central space. Its shape is inspired by the erosion caused by water, combined with the gallerys functional considerations, thereby providing greater flexibility. Here, visitors can find out more about Rocas latest products and collections, created by the very best Spanish and international designers. One of the most striking elements of these spaces is the tiled floor. Comprised exclusively of Roca ceramics, the floor is a mosaic of unique tiles, individually designed and manufactured, which, when combined, come together to create a stunningly original visual effect.

Visitors can also interact with the projection of Rituals, which features a series of highly evocative images showing the range of everyday activities that take place in the bathroom space. Images that provoke interest and offer a captivating look at our rituals and routines. Roca London Gallery also features areas for relaxation. The Lounge and Look-up Space, also designed with aqueous and organic forms, give visitors the opportunity to relax and find inspiration at the end of their visit. These areas also provide online access to all Rocas collections of products and solutions. Zaha Hadid, the founder of Zaha Hadid Architects, was honoured with the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2004 and is internationally renowned for her theoretical and academic work. For more than 30 years, the dynamism and innovation of her projects has led her to revolutionary exploration and research into the fields of planning, architecture and design. Hadids underlying interest is in the relationship between architecture, landscape and geology, since her methods integrate natural topography and manmade systems, and this leads her to experiment with cutting-edge technology.
The opening of the Roca London Gallery means that it joins those the company already possesses in Barcelona, Madrid and Lisbon, created in partnership with top architects and designers. In Barcelona, the building was designed by prestigious architects OAB (Carlos Ferrater and his children Borja and Luca); in Madrid, the project was carried out in partnership with Estudio Lamela and, in Lisbon, the transformation of the historic building into an innovative space carries the stamp of interior design firm Ferruz. The Galleries are a place for encounter and for hosting open dialogue, bringing together the like-minded ideas of designers, architects and interior decorators from around the world. Their locations in Barcelona, Madrid, London and Lisbon provide a platform for interdisciplinary exchanges and facilitate the building of a worldwide network for identifying, interpreting, developing and sharing information on new trends in the bathroom space.

ROCA, A GLOBAL COMPANY Roca is present in five continents. Its commercial network extends to over 135 countries, and it has 72 production plants and around 21,100 direct employees all over the world. Roca began business in 1917 as Compaa Roca Radiadores S.A. This company was dedicated exclusively to the manufacture of cast-iron radiators for home heating at its factory in Gav (Barcelona), but the rapid penetration of new products into the market and a solid determination to expand led the areas of business to be enlarged with the aim of diversifying the rms activities. As a result, in 1925 the rst cast-iron boilers were made, and in 1929 the company began to make cast-iron baths. In 1936 Roca entered the vitreous china sanitaryware sector and in 1954 it began to produce faucets. A second vitreous china factory was opened in Alcal de Henares (Madrid) in 1962. It was in 1963, with the start-up of an airconditioner factory in Sabadell (Barcelona), when Roca became one of the rst Spanish companies to enter the new climatisation market. Later on, in 1968, the third vitreous china factory was opened, in Alcal de Guadaira (Seville), and in 1974 the steel bathtub factory was inaugurated. The company entered the ceramic tiles sector in the 1980s. The incorporation of Cermicas del Foix, which became a subsidiary, was the start of the current Tiles area of business. In 1989 Roca purchased a sanitaryware factory in Portugal. During the 1980s and 1990s, in keeping with the expansion drive, commercial subsidiaries were opened, agreements were consolidated with leading companies in their respective markets, and corporate acquisitions and operations were carried out. In 2002, the Roca Group began a process of corporate restructuring to organise the various areas of business into independent companies. To carry out this project, the new parent company Roca Corporacin Empresarial S.A. was set up. The restructuring process culminated in 2005 with the sale of the heating and air-conditioning businesses in order to concentrate the corporations efforts on the bathroom business, which reached the world leadership position in the early months of 2006. Roca is a fully Spanish-owned company whose share capital belongs entirely to the family group descended from its founders.
