Kathleen Khuu EDS 369B Assignment #1 Chapter 5 and 6 3 ideas 1.

) Classroom reminders prompt children to do the remembering themselves. Instead of naming the desired behavior, tell the children to pull up their memory of established expectations and then allow the children to decide on an action based on those expectations. Reminding language supports children in pausing and visualizing what to do before they take action. 2.) Effective reminding language starts by establishing expectations clearly. Next, phrase a reminder as a question or a statement, use a direct tone and neutral body language, use reminders proactively or reactively, use reminders when the child and you are both calm, keep reminders brief, and watch for follow-through. 3.) When using redirecting language, be direct and specific, name the desired behavior, keep it brief, phrase redirections as a statement, not a question, and follow through after giving a redirection. 2 questions 1.) What should you do when you are reinforcing a behavior but it does not follow through with a couple students? For example, at first students pay attention but than a few minutes later they are not doing what they are supposed to 2.) How many reminders should we give until we should reinforce behavior? 1 idea for implementation 1.) Give a reminder in the form of a question and watch to make sure that children act and follow through
