Final Exam Review

1. The exam will be comprised of 34% paradigms and grammar questions, 20% parsing, and 46% translation (with accompanying questions). You will have 3 hours to complete it. 2. Study and be prepared to fill in five selected lines of the INDICATIVE Master Verb Chart. You will not be responsible for writing out the 1st sing paradigm column of the chart. 3. Be prepared to complete a partially filled-in paradigm of a selected INDICATIVE form of

, as well as a selected SUBJUNCTIVE form of .

4. Understand the different functions of the SUBJUNCTIVE and INFINITIVE and how they are translated. E.g., you might be asked to identify a hortatory subjunctive, or to describe the function of an infinitive as either complementary or substantival. 5. Understand the different functions of a participle; be able to recognize a genitive absolute, a periphrastic construction, and whether a participle is adverbial (temporal, causal, etc.) or adjectival (attributive or substantive). 6. Know what a first, second, and third class conditional is and how each is formed. 7. Be familiar with Mounces rules for verbs, as well as the lexical forms and verbal roots for the verbs youve learned. 8. Practice parsing in your workbook. You will be asked to parse 7 words on the exam. The parsing section on the exam will be comprised entirely of VERBS (both indicative and non-indicative) which have appeared in the Parsing sections of the workbook for Chapters 21-36 (not the reviews). 9. You will be given 5 passages to translate and there will be questions regarding the function of words and the grammar of the sentences. One of the passages will come from the first part of the translation exercise which is assigned in Review #7 of your Workbook: Matt 13:1-14. Another passage will come from Optional Chapter 2 in your Workbook: Mark 2:1-3:6. 10. There will be no bonus translation, but it is possible to earn up to 7 extra points on the exam by completing the assigned workbook exercises for Chs.31-36 and Rev. #7 (all). You will sign indicating on pain of excommunication which exercises youve completed.
