This is a very rough first-pass at an online wordlist for North Saami, designed to provide some

auditory basis for those interested in Saami phonology, who may be somewhat confused from
spellings about pronunciations. Note that the transcriptions below are somewhat finer-grained
than phonemic, since we have not sorted out a complete phoneme-reducing inventory, but by
no means a narrow phonetic transcription. The transcriptions may also be under-differentiated
in terms of vowel and diphthong length. These transcriptions are "token-specific", meaning that
they may represent properties of this particular recording (though the majority are, in our
experience, representative of multiple pronunciations). See our paper for discussion of the
