The average amount of foreskin on an adult male makes up for 50% of the penis. If unfolded and spread flat the skin measures to be 60 to 70 square centimeters. The foreskin begins to grow eight weeks after fertilization, and by 16 weeks has completely covered the head of the penis.

The foreskin protects the penis gland from abrasion, drying, environmental contaminants and dyspareunia (painful Intercourse). Most people are unaware of the many positive traits to having their foreskin intact. The foreskin contains several feet of blood vessels. Its removal disrupts normal blood flow to the shaft and glands of the penis, damaging its natural functions and altering its development.

The foreskin is the only movable part of the penis, during sexual activity the foreskin works in unison with the glands to create a complete sexual response. It also stores, produces and distributes natural lubricants during arousal making intercourse more pleasurable for both partners. The inner foreskin contains a rigid band and specialized sensory tissue that adds to sexual enjoyment.
