Unit: We Built a Zoo Lesson Plan Week 2: Friday : Mini Assessment/ Oral Presentations in Spanish Learning Targets: 1.2.N.L.

a: Demonstrate understanding of oral classroom language in the target language including directions, commands and requests. Students are introduced to the impersonal se of Spanish, a concept unknown to the English speaker because it does not exist in English. The closest thing we have the use of impersonal se is when we generalize verbs. Example: One does not merely walk into Mordor. Or, A person might lose his job over something as silly as putting his hand on a students shoulder. Example in Spanish: En Mexico, se habla el espaol; In Mexico, Spanish is spoken. Or, Por favor, no se siento en el asiento a la derecha: Please do not sit on your seat to your right. Please note that these sentences are not talking about a specific person in particular, but rather are general statements that could be made about anyone needing to use a seat, or any individual from Mexico. How to incorporate se using the verb pescar: se pesca se pescan You do not use pronouns because then the statement would not be impersonal because you are tying the verb to a particular person. How could this concept come into play with affirmative and negative commands? What doubts or questions do you have?
