DEPRESSION CAN AFFECT US ALL

Ages 11-18

Depression- severe despondency and dejection, typically felt over a period of time and accompanied by feelings of hopelessness and inadequacy. This means that you feel the blues, lonely, sad or the sense of giving up for an extended period of time.

Did you know that 15-20% of teens suffer from depression? Depression is caused by chemical imbalance in the brain The longer a teen is depressed the more likely they are to have relapse throughout their life

Depression can be scary


It can affect us physically, mentally and emotionally
Self mutilation (such as cutting) can occur Even thoughts or actions of suicide

We never know who this can effect. We all need to look our for each other. Every person deserves to feel as if they belong in the world, and only YOU can make yourself believe it.

Acting out (truancies and/or criminal behavior) Change of eating habits Reoccupation with dying or death Anxiety
