Excerpt from the Minutes of the Coronado Transportation Commission Meeting of March 13, 2014 Mr Garahan said hes

lived in Coronado since 2001. He has civil engineering and business degrees and is a professional traffic engineer and also a civil engineer in two states. Early in his career he was a public works commissioner for a city in Vermont and eventually became the Secretary of Transportation for the state. He became interested in being on the CTC because of the historical problem of where they put the bridge and the resulting traffic through a little city that was planned without that traffic in mind. Ms Glass has a degree in urban and regional planning. Her first project had to do with pedestrian and bicycle safety and highway planning and she has never stopped being interested in this. She moved to California from Honolulu and found that the planning in San Diego at that time (30 years ago) was more reactive than proactive. When she arrived in Coronado she got interested in bicycle safety because she lives in the Cays. Mr Moutes is a civil engineer by degree and has been involved in transportation of water and waste products. He was formerly involved in a golf committee to look at the prospect of using the Navy facility on the Strand for a golf course. When the Navy informed the committee that a golf course was not compatible with its future needs for that site, that committee ended and he joined the Tunnel Commission in its final year. Ms. Peterson has been a resident off and on for over 40 years and has a degree in public administration. She dabbled in local and regional transportation and traffic matters over the years, but she took it seriously when she retired a few years ago. She focused in her area the Alameda/Fourth traffic pattern area. Shed like to help make a difference. Ms. Wright grew up in Coronado and has degrees in geography and city planning. She went into city planning and throughout her career she worked in the land use/transportation area. Shes very interested in making sure that transportation systems work. Shed like to work with the CTC to find ways to optimize and improve the circulation system. Mr. Tato said his family has lived in Coronado since the mid-1930s. He has undergraduate and graduate degrees in architecture. He is retired from the State Department, but still does some work for them periodically. His background is really in project and program management with respect to the design and construction of embassies and before that, radio relay stations for the Voice of America. Hes interested in relieving some of the issues with the traffic in Coronado and is concerned that if it isnt aggressively dealt with, itll progressively detract from the quality of life in the city. Ms Squitieri said her work experience is mostly with accounting both public and private. She moved to Coronado in 1997 with her family and likes not always having to worry about getting in a car. Her husband was stationed at North Island for three years so she has a fair understanding of how the Navy may feel about some of the traffic questions that come up. Shed like to work on ideas to keep pedestrians safe that would also be Navy friendly.
