TOPIC SENTENCE

The topic sentence is usually the first sentence of a paragraph. It is the most important one in a paragraph because it controls al the other sentences

It states the main idea and the focus/main emphasis of the paragraph. It controls the whole paragraph. It is usually written in one clear sentence The rest of the paragraph must develop and support the point made in the topic sentence

SUPPORTING SENTENCES
The supporting sentences that follow support the idea in the topic sentence. All supporting details in a paragraph must clearly relate to each other They can be description,definitions,examples, experiences, statistics,quotation etc

CONCLUDING SENTENCE
The concluding sentence either bring the idea of the paragraph to a close or suggest the content of the next paragraph It is usually two to four sentences in length It restates the information given in the topic sentence in different words
