Who Can Participate? All Decatur students, from Kindergarten through 6th grade can join if he or she: Knows how each chess piece moves Has a basic understanding of how chess games are completed (checkmate, draw) To join, please complete the bottom portion of this letter and return it to me along with a $96 check payable to Chess-Ed. Please add my name (Attn: Bill Buklis, Chess Club) to the outer envelope. The $96 chess fee and completed form should be sent to the school office no later than September 27th. Your application will not be processed without the appropriate entry fee. Please note that Chess Club meets only when school is in session (not on CPS days off). It is the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian to provide transportation to chess club. The doors open at 7:15 am and not earlier. Students will not be allowed into the building before 7:15. If you arrive early, plan to stay outside with your child until the doors open. Chess club communication is done via email, so it is important that you provide an active email address. The chess club student roster will be created using the forms we receive before the deadline. Thanks everyone!
