Course/Section: EDUC 601 Unit/Content Week 24 Standards review Indicator Students demonstrate understanding of the concept of Scientific Notation by creating a poster modeling what they know through the use of pictures and examples.

Objectives/Students will Explain and show scientific notation with words, pictures, and examples Safety Precautions N/A Materials Poster paper Colored pencils Crayons Internet access

Early Preparation Write the poster project requirements and expectations up on the board, so after instructions are given, the students have a written explanation of which to refer back. Hang up examples of a few Scientific Notation posters similar to the expectation of the project. Procedure 1. Class will start with bellwork problems converting numbers to scientific notation, and also converting scientific notation numbers into standard notation. 2. Instructions will be given on the expectations of the posters and the requirements necessary on them. 3. Class will discuss some examples of really large numbers, and really small numbers less than one. 4. Students will pick up their materials, and have the remainder of class to construct their poster. 5. At the end students will put their poster in a stack (making sure to have written their name on it). Completion of the poster will be expected on the second day.
