LESSON GUIDE PLANNING FORM

NAME OF ACTIVITY: How Plants Grow part 1 Age Group: Pre-school

Originating Idea: Seasons / Farming

Materials Needed: Dark and light brown construction paper, dry beans, glue, markers

Curriculum Content: Language, Literacy, and Communication; Describing objects, events, and relations.

Beginning: During small groups, teachers tell the children that they will show how to plant a seed on paper.

Middle: Children will use art materials to create what they think a planted seed will look like.

Extensions (Modifiers): Teachers can cut out beans to model how it is done. Teachers ask open ended questions about planting and farming.

End: Children discuss with teachers and friends their projects and how seeds grow.

Follow-up Ideas: Similar project with the root of the seed and the sprouts of the plants.
