Jobs on Trial

2008-2009

Jobs on trial is the simulation of a trial where a trade is accused not to be attractive.
It is a pedagogical activity giving beneficiaries the opportunity to get in touch with the working world.

Construction painter

Objectives
To enable the trainees to explore ignored occupational environments To enable the trainees to broaden their image (professional and social) of a trade

To make trainees become aware of the


subjectivity of choices To develop their awareness over

To encourage the taking into account of the less visible aspects of the trades To foster knowledge, capacities and soft

To develop self esteem To dispel gender prejudices

The job of Construction painter is accused on 24/10/2008 at GRETA in Coutances.

Two rooms are arranged to create a courtroom

Jobs on trial members, in this occasion, are: - 2 groups of trainees participating vocational guidance schemes, to

- 3 trainers, 1 technical advisor, 2 on-going training advisors of GRETA network

But also: Building professionals A teacher of another training centre A trainer in construction painting Job centers representatives

The session is open


Mrs Justice and her assistant open the session at 2pm Both of them are GRETA trainers

The private party and prosecution group (GRETA trainees) present the negative aspects and critics against the construction painter job.

a dirty job, dangerous products, health and security risks

The attorneys (building professionals and GRETA trainees) present the pro arguments.

Having all the facts the jury deliberates The jury delivers its verdict as a conclusion of the activity.

The jury issues a positive opinion on construction painter job A negative point: women working conditions are still complicated
