Ghanchi is a caste found in the state of Gujarat in India.[1] The Modh Ghanchi sub-caste is an Other Backward Class (OBC).[2] The Teli, another OBC, is a similar caste found in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.[3]

Origin
The name is of Indian origin, and means a businessman (producer and seller) of oils (Teli). The surname is concentrated in Ahmedabad, as well as Ghanchi, Saurashtra, Amreli, Bagasra, Bilkha, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Kalol, Kadi, parts of Rajasthan Jodhpur, Pali, Sojat, Mumbai, and many others.[4]
