Insight from an Intermediary Administrator

Context of Elisa Moros Position

Ms. Elisa Moro is the Career Advisor at Prime Time Prime Time of Palm Beach County, a nonprofit

intermediary organization that serves afterschool programs and practitioners (founded in 2000) representational functions, marketing, and conducting relations with students including counseling, referring applicants, and reviewing performance.

Responsibilities include program planning, recruiting,

Program Planning

Initiating and managing the career advising program

for all afterschool practitioners takes up roughly 50% of Ms. Moros time.

Budgeting and Finance


Prime Time is primarily funded by the Childrens

Services Council of Palm Beach County (CSC). CSC is funded by taxpayer dollars, specifically from property taxes.
Small grants also help to sustain the organization, as

funding has been decreasing.


Ms. Moros program operates in large part from a

key partnership with Palm Beach State College.

Ms. Moro feels blessed because for the most part

everyone understands their role and contributes to the overall functions and success of the department.
She puts extra time into recruiting and selecting the

right employee that is driven by the passion for the work and not the paycheck.

Social media Spends a lot of time physically visiting schools to

promote the scholarship opportunities with Palm Beach State College in a face to face setting

Program Evaluation
A major concern! Ms. Moro expressed that individual training

programs are not evaluated effectively.

She embraces technology as it has increased

response time and availability of communication.

Challenges
Everyday challenges are important to maintain a

healthy stress level says Ms. Moro


But the lack of evaluation done on her programs is

challenge she struggles with

Critical Issue
Ms. Moro expressed her main challenge as lack of

program evaluation.
I have selected this as my critical issue for the

semester. Specifically, I would like to create a generic evaluation tool that can be used across several programs.

Self-Assessment Inventory for Administrators of Adult, Community, & Continuing Education Results

Ms. Moro appreciated this assessment as it allowed

her to visually see the functions and skill areas that need more attention, and those that were developed.
The two areas Ms. Moro scored the least proficient

on are Marketing/PR and Evaluation.


As a result of this survey, she plans to seek out

professional development to build up those areas.
