Using Your Webcam

1. Power up and log in to your computer, then plug the webcam into a USB port. If
you have two USB ports, one on top of the other, the webcam may prefer the
lower port.
2. Clip the webcam to the top of the laptop monitor. Sliding it on from one side may
work best.

3. Double click on the Logitech Quickcam shortcut on the

desktop.

4. The Quickcam pane will open. Click on the Quick

Capture link in the upper right corner.
4. The Quick Capture pane will open.
You may have to wait a couple seconds
for the software to recognize the camera.
Then you should see live video of
whatever your camera is pointing at. You
can tilt the webcam up or down; you
cannot pan from side to side.

5. In the lower right corner of the

video pane (where it says 320 x
240 in the image to the right), you
can click on the down arrow and
choose a resolution. Higher
resolution means higher-quality
pictures, but it also means bigger
files.

6. Click Take a Picture to take a still

image. Click Record a Video to
record video.

7. When you click Record a Video, the

button changes to Recording in
Progress…Press to Stop
Recording.
8. When you stop recording, your
video will automatically start playing.
Click Stop and close this pane. (The
video will look better than the image
to the right.)

9. Your videos and pictures will be saved to the My Logitech Pictures folder. There is
a link to this folder on the right side of the QuickCam pane. There should also be a
shortcut on your desktop.
10. When you open My Logitech Pictures, it will look like this. Thumbnails for videos
will have a little filmstrip in the corner to differentiate them from still images. Double
click on a thumbnail to open and/or play the file. If you right click on a thumbnail, you
can copy and paste the file to a different location on your computer.
