*Student version would not be already filled in 1. There are 28 permanent teeth in a person's mouth. 2. Between the ages of 17-25 four teeth, called the wisdom teeth, start growing in the back of the mouth 3. This completes the adult set of 32 teeth in a person's mouth 4. Teeth cannot be seen in a baby's mouth until the age of 6 months to a year old 5. Most children have their first set of teeth by the time they are 3 years old 6. These teeth are called the primary, or baby teeth, and there are a total of 20 in all. 7. By age 5 or 6, these teeth start falling out 8. Your primary teeth fall out because your permanent teeth are behind them pushing on them 9. The permanent teeth grow in and take the place of the primary teeth 10. By age 12, most children have lost all their primary, or baby teeth, and have a full set of permanent teeth 11. Incisors are the teeth that cut and chop up your food 12. The pointy teeth next to your incisors are called your canines 13. Your premolars are hard to see. But they are bigger and stronger and are perfect for grinding and crushing food 14. Your molars are your toughest teeth that work with your tongue to help you swallow food 15. Using fluoride toothpaste is the best way to keep our teeth clean 16. Fluoride makes your teeth strong and protects them 17. Using toothpaste gets rid of plaque and bacteria 18. We also want to floss to get in between our teeth 19. Bacteria on your teeth can cause holes in them called cavities 20. Plaque also causes gingivitis which is a gum disease that can make your gums very red and sore

21. Also, it's very important to visit the dentist regularly 22. Dentists look for any problems in your teeth (sometimes using x-rays) and will polish them to make your teeth shiny and clean
