I believe social studies is a crucial topic which all students deserve to learn. Social studies curriculum takes student back through history and the events which have formed todays societies. Social studies is valuable because it incorporates geography, history, economics, and civics into one content area. The best way to evolve ourselves in society is to learn from our past mistakes and accomplishments. Students must be given the opportunity to discuss topics which require critical thinking and deeper reflection in the elementary grades.
