How do I receive my holiday pay?


When you work in Denmark for a Danish employer you automatically earn the right to holiday pay. The holiday pay that you earn this year can be paid out when you take holiday next year from 1 May and one year ahead. You may receive your holiday pay either from FerieKonto or from your employer if your employer is covered by an independent holiday card scheme. If you are covered by FerieKonto your employer will report and pay in your holiday pay to FerieKonto. If FerieKonto manages your holiday pay a letter will automatically be sent to you. This tells you: how much holiday pay you have how many days of holiday you have which employers have paid in holiday pay

I am to stop working for my Danish employer and would like my holiday pay paid out
When you stop working for a Danish employer, you can have all your holiday pay paid out. This also applies even if you do not take a holiday. However, you must have applied for your holiday pay no later than six months after leaving the country. If the deadline of six months has been exceeded, you must: take your holiday or have a legitimate reason preventing you from taking your holiday during the holiday year. Please send us the following notifications. Then we will pay the money into your EasyAccount (NemKonto): your Danish Civil Registration Number (CPR nr.) your address the date of leaving your former employer confirmation that you have not received other public-sector benefits from Denmark. Your personal confirmation of this is sufficient. You can also have your holiday pay paid into a foreign account. Please send us the following: the name and address of your bank your account number (account holders name, if applicable) BIC/SWIFT code IBAN no. BSB code approx. six figures (if your bank is in Australia) Clearing Code if your bank is in the USA.

Please note that DKK 70 will be deducted in administration costs from the amount paid into your foreign account. Your own bank may also charge for the transaction. How do I set up my foreign account as a EasyAccount (NemKonto)? You can log on to www.nemkonto.dk to set up your foreign account as a NemKonto account. You can also contact SKAT (the Danish Tax and Customs Administration) on +45 72 22 18 18 for help with setting up the account.

Receive your holiday pay from 1 May
You accrue holiday pay and days of holidayduring the calendar year, which are to be used for holiday starting from 1 May of the following year. For example, the holiday pay that you accrue from 1 January 2011 to 31 December 2011 can be spent on holiday starting from 1 May 2012 up until 30 April 2013.

Payment one month before your holiday


The holidaypay cannot be paid out until one month before you take your holiday. It can take up to five working days to process your claim. We do not send out information about payment.

How to receive your holiday pay

Using the self-service website or phone line to receive your holiday pay.

If your employer has not paid in your holiday pay - the first thing you must do is to contact your employer in writing not later than 30 September. - If you are a member of a trade union you must contact your trade union for assistance. If your employer still has not paid in your holiday pay, you must not later than 30 November: - seek to have the claim enforced through legal proceedings - seek to have the claim enforced by bringing it before an industrial tribunal - report the matter to the police - approach the National Directorate of Labour to get assistance. Remember to enclose a copy of the letter to your employer and a copy of your pay slips or final notice of assessment. Please note that the National Directorate of Labour is under no obligation to collect your holiday pay for you. How many days of holiday and what amount of holiday pay am I entitled to? Generally, you earn 2.08 days of holiday per month of employment. If your employment lasts less than one month, you will earn 0.07 day of holiday per day of employment. Generally, you earn 12.5 % of your wage/salary in holiday pay. Your employer deducts tax before your holiday pay is paid into FerieKonto. Have you not received a letter from FerieKonto? The reason may be that we do not have your current address. If you have moved, you must remember to report the change of address to the national register.
