Power plant utilization of waterfalls: No solution has been found up to now for the utilization of the gravitation energy

of high water discharge waterfalls. This is made difficult by the strong draft at the upper part of the water fall, which makes the building of the necessary engineering structures impossible. The essence of the solution is to build a structure protecting from the strong draft by deflecting the water in sections in the upper part of the river bed which makes possible to build out the energy transformers in sections. This solution was characterized by professionals of the Budapest Technical niversity in the !epartment for "ater Power Plants as a very good solution. #n Brasilia the largest not utilized water fall is the lgnazu water fall, the utilization of the kinetic energy of which by the method suggested by me would provide $%&',&( )" power output.

This solution does not re*uire the building of a barrage and it demands only a minimum of damming. +urther advantages are that the power plant provides energy already after one year, and without loading, the damage of huge areas can be avoided. The investment cost makes only one tenth of the costs of a traditional water power plant.
