Multiple Roadway Projects this Weekend


SEATTLE – The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) reminds motorists that several
construction projects and maintenance activities will be taking place over the coming weekend in the
downtown Seattle area. Please make note of the following work projects taking place between Friday
night, October 23, and Monday morning, October 26.

Alaskan Way Viaduct Semi-Annual Maintenance and Inspection


Saturday, October 24: 6:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Sunday, October 25: 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Closed: From Spokane Street to the north end of the Battery Street Tunnel.
The viaduct will reopen early on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. for the Seattle Sounders FC game at 7:30 p.m.

Fourth Avenue and James Street Concrete Panel Replacement


Friday – Monday, October 23-26: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
Closed: James Street will be closed between Fourth and Fifth avenues this weekend. Those traveling
east on James St will be directed to turn left on Fourth Ave and will be detoured around and back to
Fifth Ave via Cherry St.
Local access only, including City Hall parking.

SR 99/Aurora Utility Cut Repairs


Saturday, October 24: 6:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Closed: Lanes just north of the Battery Street Tunnel.

Third Avenue (Spring to Union streets) Concrete Panel Replacement:


Saturday – Sunday, October 24-25: 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Closed: Traffic will be restricted to a single lane in each direction on Third Ave.
Drivers are reminded that Third Ave is available to all traffic on weekends.
