Methodology
Universe : Diversified equity funds*

Performance Horizon : 1 year and 3 year Date points : Month-end

One year and three year returns were computed on the last business day of each month over a five year period. Thus, there were 12 months x 5 years = 60 date points. All equity funds in existence at that point in time were considered. The performance was sorted in descending order to ascertain the rank of each fund for that month. This was done for both one year and three year performance.

Result 1

Bluechip has never been the best performing fund over a one-year period, in the last five years!

Result 2

Out of the 60 date points on which three-year returns were computed, Bluechip Fund has been the best fund only on five occasions! On the remaining fifty five date points, some other fund was the best performer!!

 And yet, Bluechip Fund has given an annualised compounded return of 36.4% over the last 5 years!!

Result 3

A total of 16 funds have occupied the best performing fund position over one-year and threeyear periods! Of these, only three funds have done better than Bluechip Fund over the last 5 years, and one of them is Prima Fund.

Conclusion
Its not important to be the best performing fund at all times! Its not important to be the best performing fund at any time! Whats important is... Consistency of performance!
