Teachers notes
This template has been deliberately kept broad to allow and encourage flexibility. Here are some suggestions for how it can be used:
1. Reading a fiction text with your class: By completing the profile, students will have a much better understanding of the character in question, therefore improving their engagement with the whole text. In cases where you might have a complicated love scenario (i.e. A Midsummer Nights Dream) you could give the students more than one profile to complete and they could complete the profile according to the person who they want to woo! You could encourage students to provide quotes for each field to develop their understanding further.
2. Creative writing: It can be used to help students during creative writing when they are thinking about characters. By attributing their character various traits, and creating a well-rounded character before they begin writing, students are more likely to produce a comprehensive piece of work.
3. Drama: It can be used as a drama tool to help students create a character which will then give their performance a greater sense of realism. It is an excellent way of giving students confidence in their performance and allow them to have a deeper understanding of the character they are portraying.
4. Other: You can easily tweak this profile to allow for differentiation. You can add further fields for the students to complete or replace features to cater for the particular text you are studying/creating.
