Identify the inquiry question. It must be able to be manipulated and must have an effect that can be measured Specify learning objectives Plan for data gathering. Younger students will need the most guidance due to the lack of experience.
Phase 1, Identify Question: It is supposed to attract the classs attention and provide a challenging question to be solved. Write the question on the board or have it displayed somewhere to make sure it is clear. Have students repeat the questions in their own words. Phase 2, Generate Hypothesis: have the students come up with a possible answer to the question.

Phase 3, Gather and Display Data: explain what the controlled variables are. Then students will begin to gather data, but make sure that they understand and have controlled variables. Have them organize their data Phase 4, Access Hypotheses and Generalize: Have the students compare results to their hypothesis. You might have to guide them through this process.
Students will become motivated and curious. Assessment can be done throughout the lesson. Make sure that students are understanding the process and testing their hypothesis
This lesson helps students come up with hypothesis and test it. It helps them gather information and organize the information they have gathered.
