1661 If a free born white woman intermarried with

a Negro slave, she would have to serve he husbands master as long as the slave lived.

1681 In Maryland any free born white woman who

married a Negro, with the slave masters permission, could retain her freedom. Their children would also be free.

1715 In North Carolina a heavy fine and a period

of servitude for any white who married a negro. There was also a $50 fine for the clergyman who officiated.

1933 In California all marriages of white persons

with negroes, Mongolians, members of the Malay race, or mulattoes are illegal and void.
